Jermall Charlo pulled from Spence vs Tszyu card over visa issue
Jermall Charlo has been scratched from the July 26 Errol Spence Jr vs Tim Tszyu card in Australia after failing to secure a visa, according to Bad Left Hook.
Australian authorities denied the former WBC middleweight champion entry to the country due to past legal issues, Dan Rafael reported. Charlo was arrested for assault in 2022 and charged with DWI in 2024, the latter prompting the WBC to strip him of the middleweight belt after nearly three years without a title defense.
What Charlo's absence means for PBC's Australia show
The 34-year-old was scheduled to face Kane Mazoudier, a welterweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super welterweight coming off a stoppage loss to Nikita Tszyu. Charlo holds a 34-0 record with 23 knockouts but has not defended a world title since 2021.
Headliner Spence arrived in Australia without issue, Rafael reported. Stephen Fulton, who was in limbo earlier this week over his own visa status, also made the trip and remains on the card. The PBC event goes ahead July 26 in New South Wales.
