Caoimhin Agyarko has confirmed his British middleweight title shot against Josh Kelly is on after fearing he would be sidelined when an earlier eliminator fell through.

“I was heartbroken at the time [when the Adams fight was cancelled] and didn't know what was going to happen after, whether I was going to have to fight in another eliminator or get the title fight, or even be left on the sidelines again”

Agyarko was scheduled to fight in an eliminator before that bout was cancelled, leaving his route to a British title in doubt. The middleweight has now secured a championship opportunity against Kelly instead of being forced into another eliminator or left without a meaningful fight.

What it moves

The Belfast fighter's comments suggest the title fight represents a reprieve after months of uncertainty. Kelly will defend the British middleweight belt in what is Agyarko's first shot at domestic honours.
