Poirier Calls Out TUF 34 Winner's 'Flop'

Dustin Poirier accused the TUF 34 bantamweight winner of faking his response to the illegal knee that handed him the title.

Ilimbek Akylbek Uulu claimed the season championship when Mehemmedali Osmanli was disqualified for landing a knee to a grounded opponent 2:19 into the opening round at UFC Vegas 121 in Las Vegas. Sherdog reports that Poirier questioned Uulu's selling of the foul during an episode of the "Deep Water" podcast alongside Jorge Masvidal and Chris Weidman.

Poirier Says Uulu Changed His Reaction Mid-Sequence

Reviewing the footage, Poirier pointed to the moment Uulu appeared to reach for Osmanli's leg before the referee stepped in. "Here, when he's about to build up on a single leg, his brain starts working and he's like, 'Oh, I just won The Ultimate Fighter if I flop,' and he flopped," Poirier said, per a clip shared on social media. "Yeah, come on, this is the Oscars. That's a flop."

Masvidal agreed with Poirier's assessment. Weidman stayed neutral on whether Uulu oversold the damage. Osmanli has also claimed publicly that Uulu milked the effects of the strike.

The TUF 34 finale aired Saturday at the UFC APEX. No word yet on when Uulu will make his first title defense.
