PFL Austin weigh-in results: Eblen-Kasanganay set, Pinedo misses
Johnny Eblen and Impa Kasanganay officially weighed in Friday for their interim PFL middleweight championship rematch at PFL Austin, with Eblen tipping the scale at 184.2 pounds and Kasanganay at 183 pounds, per Sherdog. The main event goes Saturday night on ESPN2.
Eblen steps in to face Kasanganay after original opponent Costello van Steenis, the reigning champion, withdrew. The two met previously in 2024 at a PFL vs. Bellator event, with Eblen taking the decision. Since that fight, Eblen has gone 3-1 in PFL, including a fifth-round submission loss to van Steenis last year that marked his first career defeat. He bounced back with a submission win over Bryan Battle and now fights for the interim strap.
Kasanganay's path back to title contention
Kasanganay has compiled a 5-2 record since losing to Eblen two years ago, defeating Dalton Rosa and Joshua Silveira while absorbing knockout losses to Fabian Edwards and Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov. The 32-year-old came in two pounds under the middleweight limit and will look to upset Eblen to earn a shot at van Steenis.
Jesus Pinedo was the lone fighter to miss weight, coming in .8 pounds over the featherweight limit for his bout against Joey Ruquet. He will forfeit a percentage of his purse. The rest of the card made weight without issue.
PFL Austin airs live on ESPN2 Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, with prelims streaming on the ESPN app beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET.
