Norma Dumont vs Ailin Perez booked for UFC Vegas 121
Norma Dumont will face Ailin Perez in a women's bantamweight bout at UFC Fight Night 289 on Sept. 26 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
ESPN Knockout commentator Gaston Reyno announced the matchup Friday on social media, per Sherdog. Perez confirmed the bout on Instagram. The pairing lands on the fourth UFC card of September, an event also expected to carry the UFC Vegas 121 label.
Perez chasing Dumont since 2024
The Argentinian has pursued the fight for more than two years, dating back to her decision win over Joselyne Edwards in 2024. Perez dubbed the potential clash the "war of the asses" in a previous MMA Junkie interview. Dumont has claimed the bout was offered to Perez in the past and declined.
Dumont carries a 13-3 record into the contest but dropped her last outing to Edwards in April, snapping a three-fight winning streak at 135 pounds. The Brazilian has gone to decision in her last 11 bouts since Megan Anderson stopped her in her UFC debut.
Perez enters on a six-fight winning streak, the longest active run in the women's bantamweight division. All six wins came at 135 pounds, tying her with Ronda Rousey for the second-longest winning streak in divisional history behind Amanda Nunes, who won nine straight.
