Perea Earns UFC Contract With 45-Second Stoppage
Mayton Perea earned a UFC contract Tuesday night with a 45-second stoppage of Zevan Hunt in the main event of Dana White's Contender Series Week 6 at the Apex in Las Vegas.
The Ecuadorian survived an early scramble that saw Hunt take mount before working back to his feet, per Sherdog. Perea landed a heavy punch that sent Hunt shooting for a leg. Perea answered with a flurry of elbows and follow-up strikes that forced the referee to wave off the bout.
Perea's Road To The UFC Roster
The finish marked Perea's fourth straight win and pushed his record to 9-3. Hunt, who entered at 7-1, had no answer once Perea found his rhythm on the feet.
"I have been waiting my entire life; I have been manifesting this and working so hard," Perea said in his post-fight interview, according to Sherdog. "It is incredible. It seems like a dream."
Dana White awarded Perea the contract immediately after the stoppage. No word yet on when the Ecuadorian lightweight will make his official UFC debut.
