O'Malley Praises Vera After Breaking Losing Streak

Sean O'Malley credited Marlon Vera for snapping his four-fight losing streak at UFC 331 earlier this month, calling the bantamweight's finish of Charles Jourdain possibly his best performance to date.

Vera stopped Jourdain in what O'Malley described as an impressive showing against a dangerous opponent riding a three-fight winning streak at 135 pounds. "Four-fight losing streak, everyone's counting 'Chito' out," O'Malley said on his YouTube channel, per MMA Junkie. "This might have been his best performance yet against a very dangerous Charles Jourdain."

O'Malley Reminds Fans Of Dominant Miami Win

O'Malley acknowledged that Vera had looked inconsistent across his recent skid but turned in a complete effort against Jourdain, who brought submission skills and knockout power into the cage. "'Chito' went out there and broke him," O'Malley said, per the report. The former champion then reminded listeners of his own 50-45 decision over Vera in Miami, which he called the biggest fight in bantamweight history and the highest-grossing gate in Miami's UFC history.

O'Malley and Vera have split two fights in their careers, with Vera knocking out O'Malley via TKO in their 2020 meeting before O'Malley dominated the 2024 title fight.

Vera had dropped consecutive bouts to top contenders before the Jourdain stoppage halted the slide and potentially opened a path back toward relevance in the bantamweight rankings.
