Moraes Hip Tosses Motorist During Traffic Stop

Former UFC bantamweight Marlon Moraes took down a confrontational motorist during a South Florida traffic stop while working as a police officer.

Viral footage circulating on social media shows Moraes, who now serves with Coral Springs P.D., using a hip toss to bring an aggressive motorist to the ground during a March 27 incident. The man had repeatedly insulted Moraes and another officer before stepping toward them despite multiple warnings to back away, according to Sherdog.

Moraes joined the Davie Police Department in Florida in June 2024 before moving to Coral Springs later that year. The Brazilian exited the UFC in 2023 after a seven-fight losing streak.

The 36-year-old returned to MMA competition on Aug. 28, defeating Maximiliano Perez by unanimous decision at a regional show. That win snapped a drought stretching back to 2019 and came after three years away from the sport.

Other officers moved in to handcuff the motorist after Moraes executed the takedown. Moraes fought for the UFC bantamweight title in 2019 but lost to Henry Cejudo via third-round stoppage.
