Ennis Says Crawford May Come Out Of Retirement

Jaron Ennis says a recent face-to-face exchange with Terence Crawford has him wondering whether the retired champion could still return to the ring, though he declined to share details of their conversation.

"We were basically talking about my upcoming fights and this, that and the third. We had a little back and forth, and we had a little back and forth off camera. That's it.

"Who knows? He might come out of retirement. Who knows? I'm going to clean up this division, and then, like I said, this is my game, man. I'm the best. I'm taking over the division one by one," Ennis

A fight between the two never materialized during Crawford's welterweight reign, and interest has only grown since Crawford closed out his career with wins over Errol Spence Jr. and Canelo Alvarez. Crawford has previously pointed to moments where Xander Zayas found success against Ennis before being stopped, suggesting a more experienced finisher could exploit similar openings. He's also said he won't return to 154 pounds, meaning any future matchup would likely require Ennis to move up rather than Crawford coming back down. For now, Ennis remains focused on his own career.
