Mike Perry On Shoulder Injury After Jenkins Loss
Mike Perry has spoken publicly about the shoulder injury that led to his upset loss at Duel Arena 1 over the weekend.
Perry was stopped in the first round by Brandon Jenkins after dislocating his left shoulder during the fight, per Sherdog. The former UFC welterweight had been a heavy favorite against Jenkins, who stepped in on two days' notice after Dillon Danis withdrew from the original bout. BJ Penn.com noted that half of Perry's purse was cut due to the late replacement.
Perry Stresses Recovery After Duel Arena Upset
"Health is wealth," Perry wrote on X. "The MMA lifestyle taking care of the body, mind and spirit. The gym helps the process of growing your strength, but strength is needed in other areas of life and should be exercised everywhere we go. Organize, be consistent, more recovery and stretching. Taking knowledge into my future endeavors. More to work for, more work to do."
Jenkins has claimed credit for landing an elbow that caused the dislocation. Perry was swarming early before the injury derailed his performance and allowed Jenkins to finish the fight.
The loss is Perry's second since leaving the UFC in 2021, following a boxing defeat to Jake Paul in 2024. He had been coming off a TKO win over Nate Diaz on the MVP MMA 1 card. Jenkins has said he would give Perry a rematch at welterweight once the BKFC star is fully healed.
