Hamidi Eyes Nadaka's ONE Title After Atomweight Test
French-Algerian striker Akram Hamidi believes he has spent his career fighting in the wrong weight class. On October 30, he gets his first chance to prove the lighter division suits him better when he meets former title challenger Numsurin Chor Ketwina in the atomweight Muay Thai main event of The Inner Circle 36.
The bout streams live in Asia primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, according to BJPENN.com. Hamidi, a 27-year-old three-time ISKA Kickboxing World Champion, brings a 55-6 record into his atomweight debut after competing at 57 kilograms in previous ONE appearances. He returned from a knockout loss to Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in September 2024 with a July victory over Watcharaphon Laochokcharoen at ONE Friday Fights 164.
Numsurin Brings Title Experience to Bangkok Clash
Numsurin, 31, earned a US$100,000 contract after going 6-0 on ONE's weekly series before challenging Nadaka Yoshinari for the inaugural ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 173. He dropped that decision over five rounds but rebounded with a June win over Songchainoi Kiatsongrit. The Thai fighter has promised to pressure Hamidi with his boxing from the opening bell.
Hamidi keeps his scouting report brief. "Numsurin is a very good fighter. He's well-rounded and has good boxing," the Team Valente representative said, per BJPENN.com. "He's good with his hands and his kicks." Asked about his opponent's weaknesses, Hamidi offered only a short answer: "I'll discover them in the ring."
A win over a former title challenger would position the debuting atomweight for a shot at reigning ONE Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Nadaka. The bout airs Friday for members of The Inner Circle.
