Page Vows More Risks After UFC Paris Snoozefest

Michael Page says he plans to take more risks in future fights after his forgettable decision win over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris on Saturday.

The former Bellator standout improved to 5-1 in the UFC with the unanimous decision victory at Accor Arena, but the bout offered little entertainment value. Page landed just 39 significant strikes across his last two outings combined, per MMA Mania, continuing a pattern of low-output performances that have seen all six of his UFC fights reach the scorecards.

Page Acknowledges Low Output Problem

"The frustrating thing is that I feel great, which sometimes means I haven't done enough, and the results show that I haven't done enough," Page told UFC.com after the fight. "I probably need to push myself a little bit more and take a few more risks."

Page's patient counterstriking style makes him difficult to hit but produces long stretches of inactivity when opponents refuse to engage. He acknowledged the issue extends beyond strategy. "There is no one in the world who can strike with me, but then again, there are too many people who can survive with me," he said. "That's the problem. That's what I need to change."

The Paris card marked the final fight on Page's current UFC contract. Despite his winning record, the promotion could reportedly opt not to renew the deal given his consistent lack of action. Page closed by saying fans and the UFC deserve more from him going forward.

Page returns to free agency with a four-fight winning streak but faces questions about whether he can adapt his style without sacrificing the defensive soundness that has made him so hard to beat.
