Ex-UFC champs tell McGregor to drop 'God's Plan' talk after 329 loss

Former UFC champions TJ Dillashaw and Michael Bisping say Conor McGregor should abandon his recent religious messaging and return to the brash persona that made him famous.

McGregor posted about his faith on social media after losing to Max Holloway at UFC 329 last weekend in Las Vegas, a sharp turn from the fighter who once declared he apologized to absolutely nobody. The bout ended in the first round when McGregor suffered a knee injury just 69 seconds in.

Dillashaw and Bisping push back on religious excuses

Dillashaw told the Jaxxon Podcast he wants the old version back. The former bantamweight champion said he prefers the version of McGregor who acted like nobody could tell him anything and apologized for nothing. Bisping went further in criticizing fighters who lean on faith after losses, according to MMA Mania.

The 38-year-old McGregor has leaned more heavily on religion since a 2024 court ruling found him liable for sexual assault. His attempt to finish his UFC contract ended with the quick knee injury against Holloway. The promotion has not announced a timeline for his recovery or next bout.
