McGregor Announces Fifth Career Surgery After UFC 329
Conor McGregor will undergo his fifth career surgery after suffering torn ACL and meniscus ligaments in his UFC 329 rematch with Max Holloway earlier this month.
The former two-division UFC champion damaged the knee on his first kick of the bout, per Sherdog. He struggled to plant his feet through the opening minute before the referee waved off the contest at 69 seconds when McGregor repeatedly fell to the canvas.
"Well folks, here we go again! Surgery number 5 of my career coming up!" McGregor wrote on Instagram. "All things considered that is an ok number! Let's do it, WE GOT THIS!"
McGregor's Return Timeline After ACL Repair
The injury mirrors damage McGregor sustained to his opposite knee during his first meeting with Holloway in 2013, which he won by decision. That ACL and meniscus tear required nearly a year of recovery before he returned to competition.
McGregor's most recent layoff lasted nearly five years following a broken leg in his trilogy bout against Dustin Poirier. The Irishman has one fight remaining on his UFC contract and previously targeted International Fight Week 2027 for his next Octagon appearance.
