McGregor Battles Drone For Mac Energy After Surgery
Conor McGregor's recovery from ACL surgery hit a snag this week when he battled a drone for a can of his own energy drink.
The former UFC double champion, who reportedly had his knee repaired earlier this week after tearing his ACL against Max Holloway at UFC 329 last month, appeared in a video attempting to grab a can of Mac Energy from a high-flying drone while balancing on crutches. McGregor reached over the side of a balcony as onlookers watched, but couldn't quite connect with the drone-delivered beverage on the first pass.
McGregor Eventually Grabs Can After Multiple Attempts
The Irishman eventually secured the can after several tries and hobbled off without his crutches, per MMA Mania. McGregor, 38, tore his ACL just 69 seconds into his comeback fight against Holloway, a bout that generated a record gate for the promotion despite the early stoppage.
The injury required real surgery despite backlash over his performance, according to the report. McGregor is expected to make a full recovery and could fight out his existing UFC contract with at least one more Octagon appearance next summer if he avoids setbacks during rehabilitation.
