Makhachev's Two-Word Response To Machado Garry
The UFC 330 pre-fight press conference in Philadelphia on Thursday made one thing clear — nobody in that room likes Ian Machado Garry. The Irishman was booed loudly throughout, while Islam Makhachev was warmly received at every turn.
Garry was unbothered: "I couldn't care less. My little boy is here laughing and smiling. I'm living the dream."
Garry said he had dreamed of fighting for a UFC title since he was 16, and predicted the crowd would turn in his favour if he wins on Saturday. Makhachev had a simpler read on the situation: "Nobody likes Ian Garry — myself also. He's losing fans by the second,” Islam
The exchange reached its sharpest moment when Garry suggested the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov would be proud of Makhachev's achievements. The champion's response was two words: "Shut up."
Makhachev defends his welterweight title on Saturday while chasing a UFC-record 17th consecutive victory. Garry is aiming to become Ireland's latest UFC champion — in a city that, for now, wants nothing to do with him.
