UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev laughed at the idea of asking a wife for permission after Demetrious Johnson said he'd need to consult his spouse before visiting Dagestan.
During a recent interview, Makhachev invited the UFC Hall of Famer to his home region. Johnson expressed safety concerns before saying he'd have to run the trip by his wife. The champion's response was immediate, per Sherdog.

"Talk to wife? Talk to wife?" Makhachev said. "You're the best fighter in the world. You have to tell her. But not ask."
Garry's Opposite Stance On Women's Authority
The exchange stands in sharp contrast to Ian Garry's recent comments about women running the world. Garry told High Performance he cries during Disney movies and believes society would improve if men simply listened to women in charge. The Irishman caught heat for the remarks, which included praising his own feminine side.

Makhachev also denied Garry's accusation that he wore high heels at their first face-off in Philadelphia. The two stood nearly eye-to-eye despite Garry's listed five-inch height advantage. Garry told Paramount Plus his opponent was wearing stilettos and predicted a different look Friday when both fighters wear identical shoes at ceremonial weigh-ins.
Makhachev said he wore regular footwear and has grown since the UFC measured him at five-foot-ten before his 2015 debut. The champion defends his welterweight title against Garry on August 15 at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
