Islam Makhachev broke Anderson Silva's UFC win streak record at UFC 330, notching his 17th consecutive Octagon victory with a unanimous decision over Ian Machado Garry in Philadelphia.

The welterweight champion's latest defence snapped Silva's longstanding mark of 16 straight wins, a record that stood for over a decade. As MMA Mania reported, Makhachev now sits alone atop the all-time leaderboard, ahead of Kamaru Usman (15), Merab Dvalishvili (14), and a five-way tie at 13 that includes Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, Demetrious Johnson, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and Max Holloway.

UFC 330 Shatters Gate Record In Philadelphia Return

The August 15 card at Xfinity Mobile Arena delivered a $6.7 million gate, roughly $2 million above the previous Philadelphia record. A crowd of 19,238 packed the arena — also a new high-water mark for the market — in the promotion's first visit to the city since 2019.

Makhachev built the bulk of his streak at lightweight, where he held the 155-pound title before moving up to claim welterweight gold. With Usman and Dvalishvili both coming off losses and Holloway 2-2 in his last five, the Dagestani's new record appears safe for the foreseeable future.

UFC president Dana White has not committed to crowning Makhachev the greatest of all time, telling reporters the champion needs to "keep grinding" before that conversation begins in earnest. Makhachev is expected to defend the welterweight strap next against No. 3 contender Michael Morales, who served as backup in Philadelphia and made weight on standby.
