Machine Gun Kelly attacks McGregor after UFC 329 knee injury
Musician Machine Gun Kelly refused to back down from his criticism of Conor McGregor after the Irish fighter's comeback ended with a knee injury 69 seconds into UFC 329 on Saturday.
The Ohio native posted a video to Instagram doubling down on his mockery of McGregor's loss to Max Holloway in Las Vegas. Kelly referenced their 2021 altercation at the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet, where security separated the two after a physical confrontation.
MGK insults McGregor over injury and appearance
Kelly dismissed suggestions he should apologize for comments he made immediately after the fight. He called McGregor's knee injury karma and mocked his appearance, per MMA Fighting. The musician also disputed footage of their VMA incident, claiming additional video exists showing security removing McGregor from the scene.
McGregor threw a spinning kick early in the UFC 329 main event that destroyed his right knee, forcing referee Marc Goddard to wave off the contest. The former two-division champion wrote on X that he entered the cage injury-free and had been drilling kicks throughout his training camp, according to Sherdog.
Coach John Kavanagh told ESPN the jump switch kick had been practiced daily for months without issue. UFC chief executive Dana White said after the event that he suspects a torn ACL. McGregor announced plans for surgery but has not specified the exact nature of the damage.
Kelly has previously had public run-ins with UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland at a Power Slap event. McGregor is scheduled to meet with doctors this week to determine a timeline for his return.
