Lopez Ready To Fight WBA Order Over Catterall Mandatory
WBA welterweight champion Teofimo Lopez is reportedly prepared to take legal action against the WBA over its order to defend against Jack Catterall.
The WBA ordered the fight on September 22, giving both sides until October 22 to agree terms before purse bids can be called. Lopez became a three-division champion by beating Rolando Romero by majority decision on August 22. Garcia kept his WBC title by knocking out Conor Benn in round two on September 12, and both champions have said they want to fight each other next. As for Catterall, he stood his ground: “There’s not $1 that can persuade me to step aside to allow a unification bout. I’m here to fight,” Catterall said
