Lara Confirms Tszyu Title Shot On December 12

Erislandy Lara will put his WBA middleweight title on the line against Tim Tszyu on Dec. 12 in Australia, per ESPN.

The matchup pairs Lara, who claimed the vacant 160-pound strap earlier this year, against Tszyu, the former junior middleweight titleholder moving up in weight. Tszyu held the WBO belt at 154 pounds before losing it in a March upset.

Lara has fought sparingly in recent years but remains a tricky southpaw puzzle for anyone at middleweight. Tszyu, meanwhile, looks to rebuild momentum after dropping his title in his first career defeat.

The fight lands on home soil for Tszyu, who has not competed in Australia since his title loss. No venue or broadcaster has been announced yet.
