Kye Genesis Breaks Opponent's Arm In Gruesome Submission

Amateur fighter Kye Genesis snapped his opponent's arm with a brutal armbar at Cage Titans 78 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, delivering one of the year's most gruesome submissions.

Genesis locked in the hold so precisely against David Diaz that the arm broke immediately, before Diaz had a chance to tap. MMA Fighting's Alexander K. Lee reported the finish came with an audible pop, with Diaz's arm visibly bending in the wrong direction. "I'm not sure Genesis' opponent David Diaz even had the opportunity to tap there," Lee wrote in his weekly Missed Fists roundup.

Diaz Drops To 0-6 After Nightmarish Finish

The loss dropped Diaz to 0-6 as an amateur, with five of those defeats coming in the first round. Genesis executed the submission with such speed and technical precision that Diaz appeared to recognize the danger only moments before the hold was fully locked.

The finish capped a weekend of brutal stoppages across regional MMA, including first-round knockouts at LFA 241 in Brazil and a violent wheel kick knockout at Oktagon 93 in the Czech Republic. Michael Dufort defended his Samourai MMA lightweight title with a triangle-hammerlock combination in Quebec, while former Dana White Contender Series fighter Mohamed Ado scored his second straight knockout since joining the Canadian promotion.

The Cage Titans event is available to stream on UFC Fight Pass. Diaz will need significant recovery time before considering a return to competition.
