Khan Urges Promoters To Stage Fury vs Joshua In London

London Mayor Sadiq Khan has called on promoters to stage Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua in the British capital rather than Madison Square Garden, Sky Sports News reports.

Khan told the outlet he has been in direct contact with Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn and can facilitate hosting the fight for 100,000 spectators. The bout has not been officially confirmed, but Saudi organisers Sela are reportedly pushing to hold the event in New York, according to Sky Sports.

"I understand the temptation of going to Madison Square Gardens," Khan said. "I understand the temptation of the money and offer, but the fans are here. We've been loyal to Tyson and to Anthony. We love them both, and we'd love to see them boxing here in London."

Khan added that Hearn had approached him for help organising the fight. Both Fury and Joshua are said to prefer a UK location, but the bout has stalled over venue terms. Fury's promoter Frank Warren has stated his fighter signed the contract, while Fury himself called Joshua a coward on social media this week over the holdup.

Sky Sports News reported it has approached Queensberry Promotions and Matchroom Boxing for comment on Khan's appeal. No fight date or official announcement has been made.
