Katie Taylor's Terms For Her Next Fight

Katie Taylor may never box again after her promoter Eddie Hearn has laid out as negotiations for a homecoming fight at Croke Park continue.

Taylor's record of achievement is without parallel in women's boxing. An Olympic gold medal, undisputed titles across two weight classes, and three wins over Amanda Serrano — the most decorated opponent the women's game has produced — place her in a conversation about the greatest female boxer of all time.

The one thing she has not done is fight at home, on Irish soil, in front of the crowd that has followed her career from an amateur champion to a global star. Croke Park, with a capacity exceeding 82,000, is the venue that would match the scale of the occasion she deserves.

"Croke Park or bust. If it's not happening, I think she'd go: 'I'm done.' I think the deflation of not getting Croke Park will lend itself to saying I surrender." The stakes, as Hearn frames them, could not be higher.

The absence of that fight is not for lack of trying. The logistics of staging an event of that magnitude — venue, opponent, broadcast, commercial infrastructure — have kept it just out of reach through multiple windows.

Taylor’s Future

Hearn is now suggesting it is closer than it has ever been: "We're in a good place. It's not confirmed but we're making huge progress. Planning for end of August, early September. I don't want to get too ahead of myself."

Taylor has also previously suggested that she wants to walks away from the sport after fighting in Dublin.

"I just want to fight in Dublin to end my career. Obviously we're still hoping for Croke Park, we're hanging on to a bit of hope that it can happen. If it doesn't happen there are plenty of options there. I have obviously fought in the 3Arena a couple of times, the Aviva Stadium is also there. Croke Park would the top of the list,” Taylor stated
