De La Hoya On Ring Magazine Sale Rumors
Oscar De La Hoya believes Turki Alalshikh is exiting boxing.
The Golden Boy promoter said rumors that Alalshikh is looking to sell The Ring Magazine — just two years after purchasing it from De La Hoya — indicate the Saudi advisor plans to step away from the sport, Bad Left Hook reports. De La Hoya made the comments in a social media video posted Thursday.
De La Hoya Calls Ring Magazine A Dead Asset
De La Hoya claimed the publication lost credibility under Alalshikh's ownership and became a vehicle for bias. "It's a dead asset," he said in the video. "They stripped it of its credibility and made it purely bias and propaganda." He added that Alalshikh himself has signaled plans to step back after the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight.
The former champion also connected the potential sale to broader dysfunction in boxing. He said making fights has become harder, with top names staying inactive while waiting for bigger paydays rather than facing each other. De La Hoya said he hopes the next buyer restores the magazine's integrity and rankings system.
Alalshikh has not publicly confirmed plans to sell the publication or exit boxing. The Fury-Joshua fight does not yet have a scheduled date.
