Joshua Says He Can Still Become Undisputed
Anthony Joshua is looking past his Kristian Prenga fight scheduled for July 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, as he is aiming for undisputed.
"I believe I can become undisputed. I still have got the ambition and hunger. Anything below that is a champion. So one of the two, I'm definitely going to get. Physical and mental, I'm solid, very solid. And if I can improve my spirituality, I'll definitely get to where I want to get to,” Joshua
The Prenga fight is expected to be a straightforward win — a tune-up that keeps Joshua active and sets up the next step in a heavier conversation. That next step, if he gets past Prenga, is almost certainly Tyson Fury.
The undisputed picture at heavyweight requires beating whoever holds all four major belts simultaneously, and the current landscape is more complicated than any single fight can resolve. Agit Kabayel holds the WBC title after his stoppage of Damian Knyba. Daniel Dubois is the WBO champion. The WBA and IBF titles are in transition.
Joshua has held versions of the heavyweight title before, including a period as unified champion with three of the four major belts. He lost them to Usyk twice. Whether the Joshua who faces Prenga in Jeddah can compete with Kabayel, Dubois, and whoever emerges from the current contender pool is a question that needs answering.
