Jones On Cormier's Hatred: Made Me Too Much Money

Jon Jones claimed his bitter rivalry with Daniel Cormier might not run as deep as fans believe.

The former two-division UFC champion suggested Cormier plays up their animosity when cameras roll, telling fans the feud "made me too much money," according to MMA Mania. Jones appeared to break character during a recent appearance, hinting the decade-long beef between the two heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight legends served both men's financial interests.

Jones Questions Authenticity Of Longstanding Feud

The comment raises questions about one of MMA's most heated rivalries. Jones and Cormier clashed twice inside the Octagon, with Jones winning both meetings — though the second victory at UFC 214 was later overturned to a no-contest after Jones tested positive for turinabol. The bad blood between them appeared genuine at weigh-ins, press conferences, and broadcasts where Cormier worked as an analyst during Jones fights.

Cormier retired from competition in 2020 and now works as a UFC commentator and analyst. Jones returned from a three-year layoff in 2023 to capture the heavyweight title and remains the promotion's active heavyweight champion.

The two have not publicly responded to each other since Jones made the remarks. Their next interaction could come when Jones defends his heavyweight strap, with Cormier likely calling the action from the broadcast booth.
