Jones Apologises To Hamilton After Hunting Dispute

Tom Rashid
UFC & MMA Lead Writer ·

Jon Jones says Lewis Hamilton blocked him on social media after the UFC heavyweight champion participated in a helicopter pig hunt with Army Rangers.

Jones told ALF Global that Hamilton sent him a lengthy message calling him a "coward" for shooting the animal from the air. The F1 icon argued that animals should be hunted with traditional weapons like spears or arrows to give them a fighting chance. "He wrote me a long message saying that I was a coward," Jones said, per Sherdog.

Hamilton's Reaction To Helicopter Hunt

The former UFC double champion said he was proud of the kill because the meat was donated to an underprivileged family. Hamilton saw the footage and responded with criticism, writing that only a coward would shoot an animal from a helicopter without giving it a chance to fight back.

Jones said Hamilton unfollowed and blocked him after the exchange. "He unfollowed me and he blocked me and it sucked because I was his fan," Jones added. "I was a fan of him, but he was very disappointed in me for shooting the pig."

The UFC star has now offered a public apology to the seven-time Formula One champion. "Lewis, if you're listening, I'm sorry," Jones said.
