Jon Jones has taken aim at Tom Aspinall following the British fighter's decision to vacate the UFC heavyweight title.

Aspinall relinquished the belt without pressure from the UFC after ongoing complications with his right eye, per Sherdog. The issues stemmed from his first title defense against Ciryl Gane, which ended in a no-contest when Aspinall suffered eye pokes to both eyes in the opening round. He said he didn't want to stall the division.

Jones engaged with several social media posts questioning Aspinall's exit. When one user suggested Aspinall vacated because he didn't fancy his chances in a Gane rematch, Jones responded: "My sentiments exactly."

The former two-division champion also reacted to a post claiming Aspinall was undeserving of the undisputed title. "Ouch," Jones wrote. When the same account noted that Jones himself was fouled by Gane in their heavyweight title fight but finished the Frenchman quickly, Jones replied: "Dude you are on fire."

Gane currently holds the interim heavyweight title. A hearing on the future of the heavyweight division is expected within the next month.
