Jessie Rosas Joins Noche UFC After Brief Release

Jessie Rosas will make his UFC debut at Noche UFC next weekend after being reinstated to the roster following a brief release.

The 23-year-old prospect, brother of bantamweight Raul Rosas Jr., will face fellow newcomer Sean King on Sept. 12 in Glendale, Arizona, according to a report from Marcel Dorff. Rosas was scheduled to debut at UFC Vegas 120 last month but was pulled after doctors flagged a skin condition that officials feared could be herpes. The Rosas family maintains it was mat burn.

Rosas Cut And Reinstated In One Month

Whatever the medical diagnosis, the scratch led to a surprising roster cut. UFC released the 8-1 fighter outright rather than rebook him, per MMA Mania. That decision reversed within weeks when the promotion needed a short-notice addition to its annual Mexican Independence Day card.

King enters the cage at 6-0 and will remain at featherweight, his natural weight class. Rosas is moving up from bantamweight for the bout. The pairing joins a Noche UFC card that lost its original headliner when Yair Rodriguez withdrew from a planned bout against Jean Silva. Jose Delgado stepped in to face Silva in the new main event.
