Jake Paul Teams With Eddie Hearn On Women's Boxing Deal
Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions has partnered with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing to expand opportunities in women's boxing, the two promoters announced Tuesday.
The alliance brings together two of the sport's leading promoters of women's fights, according to MMA Fighting. Paul and Hearn previously co-promoted the Katie Taylor-Amanda Serrano trilogy broadcast on Netflix. A joint statement said the partnership will identify career-defining opportunities for elite female athletes and help grow the global audience through premium events and increased commercial investment.
Nicolson Signs As First Fighter Under New Deal
WBC bantamweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super-bantamweight champion Skye Nicolson joined MVP as the first signing under the Matchroom partnership. "Women's boxing is entering a new era, and I want to be right at the centre of it," Nicolson said in a statement carried by MMA Fighting. "This partnership with MVP and Matchroom gives me the opportunity to chase legacy, compete in the biggest fights out there, and help continue pushing women's boxing forward."
Nicolson will defend her WBC title against Japan's two-division champion Miyo Yoshida in a 10-round bout at 122 pounds on Aug. 29 in Birmingham, England, marking her MVP event debut at MVPW 6.
