Itauma On Hrgovic Being More Fragile Than Expected

Moses Itauma thinks Filip Hrgovic lacks the mental toughness he expected.

The 21-year-old challenges Hrgovic for the vacant IBF heavyweight title this weekend, and in an interview with DAZN, Itauma said his opponent seemed less confident than advertised after the two met in person. "I thought beforehand he might've been a bit more assertive of himself and sure of himself," Itauma said, per Bad Left Hook. "I don't think that he is, so much."

Itauma's Camp and Strategy For IBF Title Shot

Itauma told DAZN his preparation shifted locations from Harlow to Marbella for a mental reset. Finding quality sparring partners has been the biggest challenge, he said, as most heavyweights in camp did not have upcoming fight dates early in the cycle.

The unbeaten prospect hinted at multiple gameplans for Hrgovic, noting that people forget he can fight outside his smart-boxing comfort zone. "When it comes to fight night, it should be the full ticket," he said.

The IBF title bout takes place this Saturday in Manchester.
