Hernandez Makes History With McDonald's Sponsorship
Miami police officer Luis Hernandez became the first UFC fighter to land a McDonald's sponsorship deal, MMA Mania reports.
Hernandez secured the historic partnership after his guillotine choke finish of Sedriques Dumas at UFC Fight Night in September at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas. The heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight recorded his seventh career victory in the promotion with the submission.
McDonald's Enters UFC Sponsorship Arena
The Golden Arches becomes the latest major brand to align with mixed martial arts, though the company has not disclosed financial terms of the arrangement. Hernandez balances his fighting career with full-time duty as a law enforcement officer in Miami.
MMA Mania expressed surprise that Hernandez became the inaugural UFC athlete to receive backing from the fast-food chain, questioning whether his finish over Dumas or his post-fight celebration caught the attention of McDonald's executives.
Hernandez fights in the 205-pound division and trains between shifts with the Miami Police Department. The sponsorship marks a crossover moment for UFC fighter endorsements as the promotion continues expanding its commercial partnerships beyond traditional combat sports brands.
