Cordina Agrees Terms To Fight Pacquiao
Former two-time world champion Joe Cordina has accepted terms to face Manny Pacquiao on the Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua undercard in Cardiff, promoter Eddie Hearn told ESPN.
The Welsh boxer agreed to the bout with the Filipino legend as part of the stacked June 14 card at Principality Stadium. Hearn confirmed the deal is locked from Cordina's side, though Pacquiao's team has yet to finalize its end.
What Cordina-Pacquiao Adds To Fury-Joshua Card
Cordina, who has held titles at featherweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">super-featherweight, would be stepping up to face Pacquiao in what would mark the eight-division champion's first fight since losing to Yordenis Ugas in 2021. The 46-year-old Pacquiao has not confirmed a return to the ring but has been linked to several comeback fights over the past three years.
The Fury-Joshua heavyweight clash headlines what Matchroom and Turki Alalshikh's Riyadh Season are positioning as one of the biggest UK boxing cards in history. Cordina's addition would give the event a strong local angle with the Cardiff native fighting in his home city.
Hearn expects Pacquiao's side to confirm in the coming days. The June 14 weigh-ins are scheduled for 1 p.m. local time at the venue.
