Hector Lombard pulled out of his scheduled Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 10 main event against Yoel Romero, and Alex Nicholson stepped in to face the Cuban on short notice.

Lombard cited lack of preparation time for the withdrawal, per MMA Mania. “I didn’t have enough time. Maybe a week and a half of training,” Lombard said on Instagram. “I need the proper training and proper time…I must be prepared.” Jorge Masvidal announced the replacement pairing via social media, as reported by Sherdog.

What Romero brings to Gamebred debut

Romero makes his first appearance under the Gamebred banner but has competed across multiple bareknuckle and hybrid formats since 2024. The 48-year-old former UFC middleweight title challenger last fought standard MMA against Thiago Santos at PFL vs. Bellator in February 2024, winning by decision. He dropped a controversial verdict to Vagab Vagabov at IBA Bare Knuckle 4 in Russia last month.

Nicholson enters at 3-2 for Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA and is currently riding a two-fight skid after losses to Chase Sherman and Frank Tate. The former UFC and PFL veteran knocked out Zac Pauga in his most recent win, which came in September 2024.

Lombard competed once for Gamebred in 2023, stopping Chris Sarro in the first round. His last outing ended in a 19-second knockout loss to James Cannon at DBX 3. He went 3-1 in BKFC before that stretch.

Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 10 streams free on YouTube from Miami on Friday. Prelims begin at 7 p.m. ET with the main card at 9 p.m. ET.
