BKFC books Fenway Park for first-ever Massachusetts bare-knuckle event

Bare-knuckle promotion BKFC will stage its first event in Massachusetts when it lands at Fenway Park on Aug. 29, MMA Fighting reports.

The card marks the first bare-knuckle show held at the home of the Boston Red Sox and features featherweight champion Kai Stewart defending his title against New England native Harry Gigliotti. BKFC president Dave Feldman called it "a can't miss event on the national combat sports calendar" in a press release announcing the booking.

BKFC expands outdoor strategy with Fenway Park show

BKFC has pushed into outdoor venues over the past year, with previous shows at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota and a bullfighting arena in Spain. The Fenway Park event continues that trend even as UFC chief Dana White has said he wants to avoid outdoor cards following the recent White House show.

Feldman said Stewart faces "the toughest challenge" of his title reign against Gigliotti, who has won consistently over the past three years. Additional bouts for the Aug. 29 card are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
