Bilal Hasan needed less than a minute to prove why oddsmakers installed him as the heaviest favorite in Dana White's Contender Series history.

The undefeated flyweight prospect dropped Mridul Saikia with a right hand 45 seconds into their August 12 bout, then landed follow-up shots until the referee intervened. Hasan closed at -5000 going into the fight, per Sherdog — the widest spread the Contender Series has seen in eight seasons. He walked out of the cage with a UFC contract and high praise from White.

Hasan Says Regional Run Prepared Him For DWCS Pressure

Hasan, who carried the Cage Fury Fighting Championships flyweight belt into the matchup, said the historic betting line did not rattle him. The 25-year-old told the broadcast he has been favoured throughout his nine-fight regional career and treated the DWCS appearance as another day at the office. "The pressure is just truly a privilege," Hasan said in his post-fight interview. "And luckily, since my regional career, I've always been the favorite, so I'm used to it."

He also thanked his parents for years of sacrifice and vowed to justify their investment. "They worked so hard. They didn't work this hard for me to just be average. So, I'm striving for greatness and can't wait to get my contract from Daddy Dana," he added.

Hasan now moves to 9-0 and awaits his UFC debut assignment. Saikia falls to 9-2.
