Hannah Rapp death: Suspect Charles Medina has decade of arrests

Charles Eric Medina, the 31-year-old arrested for manslaughter in the death of professional boxer Hannah Rapp, has an arrest record spanning more than a decade, according to jail documents reviewed by ESPN.

Rapp, 26, died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while riding her bicycle on FM 159 outside College Station, Texas. The Brazos County Sheriff's Office said Medina passed two cyclists, stopped, reversed and struck one of them. Rapp was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Brazos County records show Medina's first arrest came in 2012 for reckless driving and evading arrest with a vehicle. He pleaded guilty in both cases. Per ESPN, authorities arrested him again for reckless driving in 2014 and hit and run in 2020. Before Saturday's arrest, Medina faced charges for deadly conduct in the discharge of a firearm in 2024 and evading arrest in 2025. Court records list an order for a psychological evaluation, though details were not disclosed.

Rapp, an Indiana native who competed in track at Purdue, turned professional in boxing last year while working as a fire and life safety inspector at Texas A&M. She started her career 8-0-1 and challenged Tiara Brown for the WBC women's featherweight title in June at MVPW-04 in Orlando, losing by unanimous decision. She was riding alongside her boyfriend, Will Pollalis, a Texas A&M professor, at the time of the incident.

Medina's address is listed approximately two miles from where the collision occurred. The sheriff's office told ESPN the investigation remains active and called the incident isolated.
