Ian Machado Garry heard the boos loud and clear at Thursday's UFC 330 press conference in Philadelphia.

The welterweight challenger, who faces Islam Makhachev on Saturday, absorbed jeers from the Xfinity Mobile Arena crowd throughout the event. Makhachev added fuel when he told the audience nobody likes Garry and questioned whether the fighter represents Ireland or Brazil, per MMA Mania.

Garry shrugged off the nationality jab and said he would wear the Brazilian label as a badge of honor. He rattled off Demian Maia, Charles Oliveira, Anderson Silva, and Jose Aldo as proof that Brazilian fighters have built some of the sport's greatest legacies. But he made clear he was born and raised in Dublin.

The Irishman said the hostile reception meant nothing to him. He pointed to his young son in the crowd and said he was living out the dream he had at 16 years old. Beating the pound-for-pound number one on Saturday would silence everyone, he added.

"When I beat him, you'll all shut your mouth and you'll call me great," Garry said, according to the report.

Makhachev carries a win streak tied with Anderson Silva for longest in UFC history. Every challenger has tried to end that run and failed. Garry gets his shot Saturday night at UFC 330 in Philadelphia.
