Fury Open To Hrgovic Fight If Money Is Right

Tyson Fury says he would face newly crowned IBF heavyweight champion Filip Hrgovic if the financial terms are suitable.

The former WBC titleholder made the comments Saturday night in Miami, where he attended a BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing event hours after Hrgovic stopped Moses Itauma in the ninth round at London's O2 Arena. "If the money is right, I'll fight anybody," Fury told Bloody Elbow, per The Ring.

Fury On Itauma's Collapse And Joshua Negotiations

Fury is training in South Beach for his yet-to-be-announced bout with Anthony Joshua. When asked about Itauma's loss, a fight that saw the previously unbeaten prospect wilt under pressure and get pulled out by his corner — Fury's former trainer Ben Davison — the lineal champ was matter-of-fact. "That's boxing, it happens," he said, adding that he doesn't know if Itauma will recover from the setback.

Itauma, widely considered the future of the division entering the fight, left the ring on a stretcher after the brutal encounter. Hrgovic's ninth-round rally handed the 20-year-old his first defeat and claimed the vacant IBF strap.

On the Joshua front, Fury offered a familiar refrain in an interview with Gareth Davies inside the BKB ring. "I'm here in Miami at the moment, training for the biggest fight in boxing," he said. "Eddie Hearn and AJ are looking for a few more quid, as always. When the deal is right, I'm sure they'll sign."

The Fury-Joshua fight has been in negotiations for months with no contract signed. Both camps expect the bout to land in the summer.
