Hearn Reveals Wembley Talks Reopened For Fury-Joshua

Eddie Hearn says negotiations have restarted to stage Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium after weeks of public pressure from UK fight fans.

The Matchroom promoter posted on social media that talks were back on for the British venue, according to Bad Left Hook, after financial backers had been pushing to move the bout to Madison Square Garden instead. "I want to thank everyone for the unbelievable support," Hearn wrote. "You have been heard and talks have now re-opened for Wembley."

London Mayor Backs Wembley Campaign

London Mayor Sadiq Khan told Sky Sports he reached out to promoters to help bring the heavyweight clash home. "I understand the temptation of going to Madison Square Gardens," Khan said, per Bad Left Hook. "I understand the temptation of the money and offer, but the fans are here. We've been loyal to Tyson and to Anthony."

Joshua signed a contract for the fight with Wembley as the intended location. Attempts to renegotiate terms for a New York venue reportedly stalled, prompting Hearn's public campaign to reverse the decision.
