Fans React to Bivol's Post-Injury Training – ‘Looking Washed'

Fans have reacted to Dmitry Bivol’s heavy-bag workout, as he recovers from a back injury.

Bivol made history by beating Artur Beterbiev in February to become the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion. The defeated avenged the loss he suffered in the first fight, as he gave Beterbiev his first loss. Bivol then vacated his WBC title after he was ordered to face David Benavidez. This was done with a view to having a third fight with Beterbiev. However, a back injury prevented that, with Bivol expected to be out until next year. The following video shows him hitting the bag, as he looks learner than usual.

A Trilogy?

"Following my doctor’s advice, I had to undergo surgery for a past back injury which I’ve been dealing with for over 10 years, but it kept getting worse with each training camp. Everything went well, and I’m feeling much better already. Thank you all for your support. I look forward to new challenges in the next year," Bivol said

"As you know, the first fight for the absolute champion title took place in October last year. After five years of attempts to unify the belts, it was still successful. The day after the first fight, we agreed on a rematch, which was to take place within four months, despite the fact that I was after the operation, and my coach and doctor were categorically against such an early rematch.

"After the second fight, I immediately showed interest in an early third fight, and at first there were rumors about the fight in August, but my opponent said in an interview that he wanted to hold it in late autumn, then – at the end of the year, and now – it is completely unknown when. … How old do I have to be so that we can fight for the third time?," Beterbiev stated

Naturally, the aim will be to have a tune-up next year before then having the trilogy. Alternatively, Bivol could purse a fight with Benavidez in late 2026 or 2027. That gives him the chance to become a two-time undisputed light heavyweight champion. Alternatively, Bivol could move up to cruiserweight to chase a belt in a second weight class. He has already beaten the WBA and WBO Cruiserweight Champion Zurdo Ramirez at 175. He will fancy himself to do the same at a higher weight.
