Fans Predict Zurdo Ramirez Vs. Yuniel Dorticos – ‘He's Getting Much Better'
Zurdo Ramirez puts his WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles on the line against Yuniel Dorticos on June 28, as fans picked their winner.
Ramirez is the massive favorite coming into this fight. He picked up the WBA belt by beating Arsen Goulamirian, which was the perfect response after his first loss that came against Dmitry Bivol. Ramirez then unified the division by beating Chris Billam-Smith to add the WBO strap. Meanwhile, Dorticos is also a former world championship-level opponent.
He is the former IBF and WBA cruiserweight champion. The WBA has him ranked as the number one contender. However, his career has hit a struggle of late. He has not been the most active boxer, with just four fights since 2020. However, he knocked out Alan Campa in his last fight. Ramirez knows a win takes him closer to securing a mega-lucrative fight with Jake Paul if the latter beats Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
"We haven’t knocked out anyone at cruiserweight yet, and that’s what we’re trying to do. Zurdo is going to stop him, but we have to follow the right protocols to get Dorticos out of there. Dorticos is dangerous, but if there is any bit of concession, I want Zurdo to press the button and get him out there once he smells blood. Zurdo doesn’t feel pressure. He has ice in his veins. We’re prepared for the best version of Dorticos. Power is the last thing that goes from a fighter, and he has power. I see what he likes to do, and you need more than just power to deal with Zurdo. We have plans to take Dorticos’ power away," Julian Chua (Ramirez’s trainer)
