Fans Predict Reinier de Ridder Vs. Brendan Allen – ‘He Will Destroy Him'

Fans gave their picks for the upcoming middleweight main event at UFC Vancouver between Reinier de Ridder and Brendan Allen this weekend.

De Ridder (21-2 MMA, 4-0 UFC) has been on a tear, extending his UFC winning streak to 4−0 with recent victories over the likes of former champion Robert Whittaker (via split decision), Gerald Meerschaert, the Kevin Holland, and Bo Nickal. Meanwhile, Allen successfully reset his career trajectory with a unanimous decision victory over Marvin Vettori at UFC 318 in July, a crucial win that immediately ended a tough two-fight losing streak that included losses to Anthony Hernandez and Nassourdine Imavov.

"He’s not expecting to win, I think – I don’t know," de Ridder said with a laugh.… He knows what I’m capable of. He’s seen my fights, he’s seen me in the gym. He knows what’s coming. I don’t think he’s overlooking me at all," De Ridder stated

"He doesn’t impress me — maybe I’m just hard to impress. There hasn’t been one fight or one moment where you think, ‘Oh man, this guy is crazy or something special.’ He’s tough, he’s durable, his jiu-jitsu isn’t bad — but really, what is there? Maybe you see something else, but I haven’t seen anything special or that he’s got that ‘it.’ But hey, he’s getting wins.

"It wasn’t the Robert Whittaker who fought Yoel Romero, or when he was at the top of his game. Bo Nickal is super green and super young in his career. Kevin Holland – I fought Holland when he was coming off Thaigo Santos in my UFC debut. He hasn’t fought guys that are young and hungry, guys that are his size. Most of the guys he has fought are afraid to go to the ground with him, so they act differently, and I think Whittaker was one of those guys," Allen said
