Sedriques Dumas said the last-minute opponent change at UFC Vegas 121 threw off months of camp work after Luis Hernandez submitted him in 57 seconds.
Dumas had prepared to face Mickey Gall at middleweight on Sept. 26, but Gall was pulled less than three days before the card due to an undisclosed medical issue, per Sherdog. Luis Hernandez, a Dana White's Contender Series graduate, accepted the bout on short notice. The pairing moved up to heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight, and Hernandez weighed in significantly heavier when the two stepped on the scale.

Hernandez Locked In Standing Guillotine
Hernandez controlled the grappling from the opening exchange and locked in a standing guillotine choke that forced the tap 57 seconds into the first round. The finish earned him a $100,000 performance bonus in his Octagon debut. Dumas has not won in his last five fights.
Addressing the loss on Instagram, Dumas acknowledged the frustration of switching opponents after months of preparation. "If you was in a predicament getting ready for somebody for months, we gotta switch guess what something don't work out as favor," he wrote, according to a post shared on social media. He added that he does not care about outside criticism and plans to focus on fixing his own performance. Dumas closed by wishing Gall a full recovery.
