Darren Elkins to retire at UFC Fight Night on Aug. 8
UFC veteran Darren Elkins will close out a 15-year Octagon run when he meets Yadier Del Valle at the promotion's Aug. 8 Fight Night card in Las Vegas, Sherdog reports.
The 42-year-old featherweight joined the UFC roster in 2010 and compiled a 29-12 record across stops in the lightweight and featherweight divisions. Elkins notched wins over Mirsad Bektic, Michael Johnson, Dennis Bermudez and Luiz Eduardo Garagorri, while dropping bouts to Charles Oliveira, Alexander Volkanovski, Chad Mendes and Hall of Famer Cub Swanson.
Full Fight Night lineup finalized for Las Vegas card
Del Valle earned his UFC contract through Dana White's Contender Series and will look to spoil the veteran's sendoff at the Meta Apex venue. The card is headlined by Mateusz Gamrot against Quillan Salkilld, with former strawweight title challenger Amanda Lemos facing Alexia Thainara in the co-main event.
Other bouts added to the finalized lineup include Diego Ferreira against Billy Quarantillo at lightweight, Diyar Nurgozhay versus Bruno Lopes at heavyweight/" class="internal-link text-bone underline decoration-ash/30 hover:decoration-gold underline-offset-2">light heavyweight, and Juliana Miller meeting Ravena Oliveira in the women's flyweight division. Ty Cole Miller takes on Billy Goff at welterweight, while heavyweights Steven Asplund and Guilherme Pat square off earlier in the evening.
The card airs from Las Vegas on Aug. 8.
