The build-up for the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois for the undisputed world heavyweight championship on July 19th, at Wembley Stadium, is heating up.
This week, the two have been on media duty upon the announcement of the fight. During this period, we have seen team Usyk and team Dubois bicker back-and-forth over incidents which happened in the first fight.
Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois’ Team Clash Over ‘Low Blow’ Incident

It’s been almost two years since Usyk (23-0, 14 KO’s) and Dubois (22-2, 21 KO’s) first fought in Poland, where the Ukrainian defeated the Englishman via a ninth-round stoppage in August 2023.
However, before the stoppage win for Usyk, Dubois and his team believed their man had hurt the undefeated Ukrainian to the body when he was floored in the fifth round. The referee in charge that night was Luis Pabon, and he declared that the punch was an illegal shot, which ultimately saw Usyk get given a few minutes to recover from the low blow.
Dubois’ trainer, Don Charles took aim at Usyk in the press conference on April 29th, stating that he is a “cheat” and a “con man”.
“The actions you did that night, you’ve heard of the Oscars? You should’ve won an Oscar,” Charles said on Tuesday. “You conned the referee, you conned us and you conned the boxing world. You pride yourself as a God-fearing man – ‘Thou shalt not lie’ – so I question what kind of God do you worship?”
Usyk Calls Out Member of Dubois’ Team For Street Fight
Meanwhile, before the press conference, the two were on media duty for TalkSport where Usyk even clashed with a member of Dubois’ team behind-the-scenes, George Fox.
Things became heated in regards to the arguments over the low blow and Fox, a heavyweight boxer who has a pro record of 4-1, got into a long verbal altercation with Usyk.
Eventually, the Ukrainian had enough of the war of words and told Fox to meet him with three other fighters, after the bout with Dubois on July 19th, to have a four-on-four street fight.
George Fox Thinks he’s “Rattled” Oleksandr Usyk
Fox has since replied to the Ukrainian, who is looking to become two-time undisputed heavyweight champion.
He told IFL TV: “The first thing I said to him, I greeted him and I said that – what you’ve achieved is incredible. But, I’ve got a question for you. How is a man who is always calm in every press conference you’ve seen him. All of a sudden, one minute with me and he’s rattled. It’s because I’ve hit a nerve, that’s why.”
Fox also went on to say he would pick KSI as part of his four-man team in a (fantasy) street fight against Usyk and three members of his team.
The truth of the matter is: whether you believe this ‘low blow’ was a legitimate punch or not, Dubois’ team have made themself look silly for labelling Usyk a cheat. In reality, Dubois and his team should be directing their criticism to the official for the bout. But, they have no leg to stand on as Frank Warren found out when his dispute over the loss was rejected by the WBA.
As for Fox, him picking KSI as part of his team for a potential street fight against Usyk and his team has to be one of the funniest things the universe has ever heard.
