Dana White Praises Brock Lesnar
Dana White paid tribute to former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar after he signalled his retirement following WrestleMania 42.
After suffering a loss to Oba Femi, “The Beast” left his gloves and boots in the center of the ring—a signal that he was retiring. Lesnar was also noticeably absent from Monday Night Raw. Instead, WWE aired a video package that celebrated his career. The tribute was notable for featuring UFC CEO Dana White, who provided exclusive commentary on Lesnar’s 2008–2011 Octagon run.
“What Brock did in the UFC shouldn’t have been possible. He came in with almost zero experience and, within four fights, he was the Heavyweight Champion of the world. He was the biggest pay-per-view star we had ever seen at that point. There will never be another athlete who dominates both worlds like him,” White said

Legacy
Lesnar was the UFC’s heavyweight champ. His victory over Randy Couture at UFC 91 to claim the Heavyweight Championship proved that his wrestling pedigree was a “cheat code” when paired with his 265-pound frame. White often points to UFC 100 as the definitive Lesnar moment; his brutal TKO of Frank Mir.
Dana White’s involvement in his WWE send-off highlights a mutual respect that survived contract disputes and promotional wars. Lesnar’s legacy is the blueprint for the modern heavyweight: a fast, explosive athlete who understood the combat sports. He leaves the industry as the only man to have headlined a WrestleMania and won a UFC Heavyweight Championship, a feat of versatility that may never be duplicated.

Unlike many professional wrestlers who merely dabbled in MMA, Lesnar bridged the gap between scripted entertainment and elite sport. His legacy is defined by a massive commercial appeal, having been the primary engine behind some of the UFC’s first million-buy pay-per-views.
