Dana White on Floyd Mayweather money troubles: Zuffa option open

UFC president Dana White said Zuffa Boxing could potentially work with Floyd Mayweather as the former welterweight champion navigates lawsuits and financial troubles that forced him to cancel a weekend exhibition in Greece.

Mayweather was scheduled to fight former kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis on June 27 but the bout was scrapped after promoters CSI filed an injunction, according to MMA Mania. CSI claims Mayweather signed contracts and accepted millions in advances to fight Mike Tyson next, then attempted to take a different bout while still under contract.

Speaking after Sunday's Zuffa Boxing 08 card, White acknowledged he has discussed the situation with Mayweather but remains cautious. "You hear all these different stories, and I think you have to wait to see how this thing is going to play out in court for him," White said, per the report. "But when somebody works as hard as he did and amasses the type of wealth that he had and then they lose it, or it gets stolen or whatever the deal is, it's horrible and it happens a lot in professional sports."

The UFC chief added that anything remains possible. "Maybe we could do something to figure it out for him," he said.

Mayweather is suing multiple former business partners over allegations they took hundreds of millions from him, while facing separate claims for non-payment and breach of contract. The CSI deal binds him to fights against Tyson in September and Manny Pacquiao in 2027, bouts that could generate major paydays if Mayweather honours the contracts instead of adding to what the outlet described as a growing list of bad debts.
