Dana White shuts down Conor McGregor return talk after UFC 329 injury
Dana White has no interest in discussing when Conor McGregor might fight again.
McGregor injured his knee in the opening moments of his UFC 329 bout with Max Holloway last week, ending his five-year hiatus on a sour note. The former two-division champion revealed this week that he requires surgery, with many expecting an ACL tear that could sideline him well into 2027.
White dismisses timeline questions until McGregor clears physical therapy
The UFC CEO told MMA Fighting he will not speculate on a return date until McGregor completes rehab. "Conor McGregor needs knee surgery. He's going to be out. He's going to have to go through physical therapy, and then there will be a point where his doctor says, 'You're able to go back and start training hardcore again.' Until that time, it's not even worth talking about," White said.
The injury came as McGregor threw a jumping switch kick early in the Holloway fight. He still has one bout remaining on his UFC contract, which was reportedly planned for April. McGregor has pushed for a trilogy with Holloway to close out his deal, but White is not entertaining that conversation yet.
"He is absolutely getting knee surgery, and everybody in this sport knows the timeline and how that all plays out," White said. "So any Conor McGregor questions or rematch questions don't even make sense."
No surgery date or recovery timeline has been announced.
